Well-known artist and block print maker Yoshiko Yamamoto has recently completed the new poster for next year's 25th anniversary Grove Park Inn Arts & Crafts Conference to be held in February of 2012.
Yoshiko, who with her husband Bruce Smith formed the Arts & Crafts Press in 1996, had previously designed and printed posters for the 14th, 15th and 16th annual Grove Park Inn Arts & Crafts Conferences. She again returned to an historic image of the famed 1913 Arts & Crafts resort for her inspiration. Viewed from the golf course located below the hotel, the perspective shows how the Grove Park Inn, located midway up Sunset Mountain, would have first appeared to the people of Asheville (place your cursor on the photo for an enlarged view).
The 11" x 17" posters were printed by Eileen Wallace and Dard Hunter III at the Dard Hunter Studios in Chillicothe, OH. Restored and revived by the grandson of Dard Hunter (1883-1966), the historic Mountain House is now the center for Dard Hunter Studios, an Arts & Crafts working studio and living museum dedicated to raising the awareness of the contributions made by Dard Hunter, a former Roycroft designer and printer, throughout his lifetime.
Only 1000 copies of the 2012 poster will be printed by the Dard Hunter Studios and all will be given out to the participants in next month's 24th annual Grove Park Inn Arts & Crafts Conference to be held February 18-20.
