Every Arts & Crafts collector has something of special interest: an unmarked chair or vase you have never been able to identify, that important 'first piece' you found years ago, a kitchen you just remodeled or a pillow you hand-embroidered.
Your neighbor next door might not fully appreciate it, but your Arts & Crafts friends will.
Here at ArtsandCraftsCollector.com we have created a special feature called "Show & Tell." Send us a picture or two, perhaps a 'before' and 'after,' or a full frame shot and a close-up, then tell us something about it. If you are looking for more information or an identification, one of our readers may be able to help you with it.
Hope you enjoy this feature here at ArtsAndCraftsCollector.com.

Hello, I found this at our local Goodwill and thought it was very interesting. I've had one opinion that it looks like early York / Phaltzgraff from their art pottery line in the 1930's. It has a matte blue-green turquiose glaze ( the pictures make it look much daker than it is) over a yellowish clay / under glaze and stands 10 1/2" tall. The top is 6"in dia. and the base is 5"in dia. with small handles at the bottom. It doesn't seem to have any damage at all. There is a drip on the very bottom that looks like it's worn away, but it doesn't show. It's quite heavy and very smooth to the touch. The inside shows dripping were the glaze runs to the bottom with some of the under glaze showing through. There is no factory mark on the bottom just something that looks like three 1's ( 111 ) stamped into the clay. I've searched for a few days and have come up with nothing. It seems to also have the looks of Rookwood, Roseville, Weller, McCoy, etc.but nothing I can pin down.Hope you can help me solve this mystery ?? Thanks for any help or expertise. -Mike- |

I purchased this vase several years ago, but have no idea who made it. It is in excellent shape and appears to be from the arts and crafts era. It is a blue similar to the matte Rookwood blue, but it is matte in places and shiny in others. It is an unusual diamond shape with two nipple shaped protrusions on both sides and is 6.25 inches tall and 4.25 inches wide at the widest part. There is a marking "PM on the bottom (see photo). Does anyone know who might have made this and the approximate age of the piece? Thanks! |

I picked up this chair at a recent auction in Richmond, Ind. Does anyone know who the manufacturer is? I can't find any who used this design on the back. It's not top tier, but the construction is solid. |

This is a nice mission oak rocker made by Larkin Furniture Company. They did an interesting spindle configuration on the back rest, which seems to be their trademark. I sold one of these for a friend online and did some research on it. His was pretty blonde, but please note, most of these have been refinished at some point. Yours looks lovely, good find at auction. But most of all you should enjoy it. Now you know.

Can anyone date this iron doll bed stamped Art Bed Co Chicago? It was shared by my mother and her sisters as children. The oldest was born in 1903 and the youngest in 1911. What value can be placed on it? |

This morris chair has a mechanism that makes it glide/rock. It is clearly old with leather upholstery and sports the adjustable back rod. Any help is appreciated in identifying its origin. TY |

| Hand made Arts and Crafts chair | Jul 1, 2012 |

This chair is part of an estate my friend is selling. He has been told this homemade chair has a good bit of value and that within the Arts and Crafts movement there was a "craft movement" when people made their own furniture. It looks to me like a piece of furniture was deconstructed and put back together. I can find nothing online about the "craft movement". Can anyone help? Is this a valuable piece of collectible folk art? Thank you! |

So I am liquidating parents estate after it has been in storage for over a year now. Their house was massive (10,000 sq. ft. +) and I dont remember where half of this furniture was. So I am looking at some of this just trying to get an ideal to sale, keep or donate. Any help would be great. Now he was a home builder and I grew up trimming houses and building cabinets and build my kids furniture, so I know craftsmanship and I fear if I sale my kids will never see what it looks like. If I keep I need a bigger house. The Drop Lid or Front Desk has only one stamp or marking on that I can see ay it is simply the numbers 1302. |
