“Masterpieces” To Open at MAACM and Craftsman Reception at GPI Returns in February

Arts and Crafts collectors will have much to celebrate in the new year – especially in February.

In addition to the 37th National Arts and Crafts Conference and Shows kicking off Friday, February 16th through the 18th, a new exhibit showing important works of the American Arts and Crafts Movement will start February 2nd, 2024 at the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement in St. Petersburg, Florida. Presented during the twentieth anniversary of the Two Red Roses Foundation, the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement (or MAACM) will debut the exhibit Masterpieces: Extraordinary works from the Two Red Roses Foundation, displaying a collection of the rare and highest quality works from the Arts and Crafts era. Collector Rudy Ciccarello has amassed a comprehensive and complete collection of Arts and Crafts works through the Two Red Roses Foundation, whose mission is to acquire, preserve and exhibit important examples of this Turn of the Century era of design.

Masterworks includes objects by Greene and Greene, Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis C. Tiffany, Gustav Stickley, Charles Rohlfs, Dard Hunter, John Bradstreet, Grueby Faience Company, Newcomb College, and Gorham Manufacturing. The exhibition highlights the craftsmanship, artistic design, and beauty of the movement.
For those interested, a special preview of the exhibit will kick off February 1st at the museum from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Attendees can enjoy complimentary wine and light bites and be the first to see the new Masterpieces exhibition with a special preview on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5-7pm. MAACM’s galleries and Museum Store will be open for this special after-hours event.

For those attending the 37th National Arts and Crafts Conference and Shows, MAACM’s own Andrea Morgan will be presenting on the Arts and Crafts furniture of the Two Red Roses Collection on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00AM in the Grove Park Inn’s own Heritage Ballroom. (Located in the Sammons Wing.)
The Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement will also have a table as part of the Books and More show during the 37th National Arts and Crafts Shows at the Grove Park Inn February 16th – 18th.

35th Anniversary of The Craftsman Reception

It’s the 35th anniversary of the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms and they will celebrate in style with their annual Craftsman Reception, the party that annually helps to kick off the fun for the National Arts and Crafts Conference at the Grove Park Inn — and registration is now open for the reception.
The Craftsman Reception is a gathering the Thursday evening before the Conference starts the following day, where friends and supporters of the Stickley Museum gather to enjoy small plates, wine, beer provided by the Grove Park Inn and each other’s company. During the reception, a presentation on updates from the Stickley Museum will be shown including the introduction of the new Collectors’ Circle and updates on the full reopening of the museum.
“Because our friends at the conference have been important to the museum’s longevity over many years, we have decided to launch our 35th Anniversary celebration at The Craftsman Reception,” says Stickley Museum Executive Director Vonda Givens. “It is only right that we begin the celebration with so many supporters who helped us get to 35 years of existence. If you’ve haven’t attended the reception before, we hope you’ll make plans to join us for this one. We want to celebrate among all of our friends!”
All proceeds will go to benefit the daily operations of the Stickley Museum in Parsippany, New Jersey.
