Twins Cities Show Celebrates 17th Year!
For the last seventeen years, Brian Smith and Cameron Quintal of Eastwood Gallery, have nurtured the Twin Cities Show helping it grow into the largest and longest running event in the Midwest dedicated to the furniture and accessories of 20th Century Design
This will be the third year that the Twin Cities Arts and Crafts Show and Sale has had a new name and a new look. The revamped Twin Cities 20th Century Design Show and Sale “From Mission to Modern” is still the largest event in the Midwest showcasing mission furniture and decorative arts of the American Arts and Crafts Movement . But now for the third year it features a fresh, modern twist! The show now also offers the highest quality 20th Century Design, including pieces by Eames, Herman Miller, Knoll and much more!
And this year’s Show and Sale is excited to have exhibiting some of the foremost galleries, crafts people and dealers in the country including California Historical Design, Century Studios, Barbara Gerr Antiques, Craftsmen Hardware, Dard Hunter Studios, Eastwood Gallery, The Haliburton Collection, FMG Designs, JMW Gallery, Michael Hingston, Omforme, Phil Taylor Antiques, Spinario, Turn of the Century Editions and many MANY more!
An additional highlight of this year’s show will be an opportunity for every attendee to have an “Antiques Roadshow” style experience, focused on 20th Century Design! David Rago, an expert appraiser on the PBS series ” Antiques Roadshow ” since its inception in America 21 years ago, will offer individual verbal appraisals in his booth throughout the entirety of the show. A nominal fee of $10 for each item or 3 for $25 will be collected and donated to local charities; Minnesota Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Transportation Fund.
Mr. Rago will also be giving a presentation titled, “Arts and Crafts Within the Context of Modernism”. David Rago is the owner of Rago Arts and Auction Center, a leading U.S auction house, featuring 20th century design. David has published the magazines “Style 1900” and “Modernism”, as well as authoring multiple books on 20th century design and ceramics.
The show is still all under one roof and one weekend only, Saturday, September 24th from 9am – 5pm and Sunday, September 25th from 11am – 4pm at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Progress Center Building. You’ll find furniture, metalwork, pottery, textiles, art and lighting; everything from Stickley, Limbert, Roycroft, and Rookwood, to the esteemed Minneapolis Handicraft Guild. High quality reproductions will be for sale as well and many of the nations leading dealers will be on hand to answer questions and advise on how to decorate your home.
It’s a unique show, unlike anything else in the upper midwest. The 17th Annual Twin Cities 20th Century Design Show and Sale “From Mission to Modern” offers the highest quality, and will certainly be one you don’t want to miss.
