20th Century Art & Design at Treadway Toomey
Lots include a well-rounded selection of American Art Pottery including, Fulper, Marblehead, Saturday Evening Girls and many Rookwood pieces by several of their best designers of the time including Lot #54, a Kataro Shirayamadani designed vase featuring a Rooks and Crescent Moon design, #604C, estimated at $1,200 – $1,700. Also of interest is a wonderful assortment of rarely seen Teco forms including Lot #9, a three-piece dresser set — tray, powder box and oval dish — designed by W.D. Gates, estimated at $700 – $900 (top photo).
Furniture lots include forms by Gustav and L. & J.G. Stickley, The Roycrofters and Limbert among others, including Lot #56, a fantastic Limbert curved china cabinet, form #427, featuring original finish and pulls, estimated at $6,000 – $8,000 (bottom photo). But perhaps most notable among furniture lots is Lot #83, a Gustav Stickley tall, oak case clock, form #3, featuring copper and brass detailing, estimated at $10,000-$15,000 and Lots #102-103, a Thirty-third degree bookcase, and combination serving table and buffet, both featuring leaded glass, oak and copper construction and estimated at $10,000-$15,000 each.
Treadway Toomey has also pulled together a fantastic assortment of Arts and Crafts Lighting and Metalware including works by Handel, Whaley, Tiffany Studios, Bradley & Hubbard, Kalo, Carence Crafters, Tiffany & Co., Georg Jensen, Falick Novick, Liberty & Co., and Archibald Knox including Lot #237, a coffee service set by Falick Novick with coffee pot, creamer, open sugar and tray, all sterling silver with ivory accents, estimated at $2,000 – $3,000.
