Sunday: Conference Week
Part Six of a Seven Day Series
It’s going to be a short column today, as we are on the final countdown now to our four o’clock load out. What took us three days to bring in and set up will all be taken down, loaded into trucks, and driven away in less than eight hours tonight.
Twenty-nine years ago I made the joke that more people from California than Carolina came to the Arts and Crafts Conference. While that never was quite true, yesterday proved that Asheville and Western North Carolina have totally embraced the Arts and Crafts movement and this conference.
Of course, fifty-degree weather didn’t hurt either.
The parking lots were filled and the hall crowded with collectors and bungalow owners on Saturday, and we are preparing ourselves for another big turnout today.
I started my early morning helping a pair of dealers load several pieces of furniture into a customer’s van so he could hit the road by eight, and now I’ve got to head over and meet my audio visual team for the morning seminars.
But it’s all good, as they say, and we’re within a few hours of pronouncing the 29th National Arts and Crafts Conference the best ever.
And tomorrow we’ll start working on #30.
Until tomorrow,
Thanks for following my column this week.
