An East Aurora Update

Our friends over in East Aurora are gearing up for a busy October and we wanted to pass the word along that if you haven’t already purchased your tickets for the following events, you should go ahead and do so because they’re moving quick!

First up is An Evening with the Roycroft Master Artisans on Thursday, October 3rd. That evening, old and new friends will gather on the Historic Roycroft Campus to celebrate all that Roycroft was, is, and will be! Guests will enjoy meeting with Roycroft Master Artisans and viewing their works, followed by dinner and an auction of artisan-crafted pieces. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Roycroft Campus and their continued efforts to inspire visitors to experience the creativity, ideals, and future of the Arts and Crafts Movement. They continue to make their vision a reality through quality programming and enhancements to the Campus.

There is limited seating and they expect to sell out, so reserve your spot early! Tickets are $100 for members, $125 for non-members, and tables of eight are available at a discounted $750. To purchase your tickets today visit www.roycroftcampuscorporation.com or call the Copper Shop at (716) 655-0261.

And the Roycroft Campus is happy to be hosting yet another Well-Crafted Arts and Crafts Conference Weekend Friday, October 18th through Sunday the 20th featuring Conference Lectures, Workshops and other special events.

A wide variety of lectures are scheduled for this year’s conference to cover the past, present and future of The Roycroft Campus and the Arts and Crafts Movement as a whole. Saturday will focus on History and Art and will look back at John Ruskin, one of the founders of the Arts and Crafts movement, and how his theories of architecture effected both the past and present. There will also be a presentation on Gustav Stickley, the connections between Hubbard, Darwin Martin and Frank Lloyd Wright, and the importance of Buffalo at the beginning of the automobile age. Sunday will focus on the Home and Health, with presentations on interior and garden design, and the comforts of an Arts and Crafts Bungalow.

The Roycroft Arts & Crafts Conference is being held in conjunction with East Aurora’s Well-Crafted Weekend with activities planned throughout the village. The theme of “Well-Crafted” is a key aspect of the Roycrofters artwork, as well as their philosophy on how to live a quality life. A highlight of the conference will be demonstrations from current Roycroft Rennaisance Artisans in a variety of media. There will also be opportunities to partake in Oktoberfest, a tour of homes as well as events centered around history, film and art — enjoying all aspects of a “Well-Crafted” life.

To view a more detailed description of all of the events and lectures planned as well as information on how to register for the Conference and information regarding lodging visit www.roycroftcampuscorporation.com and register today!
