Auction Watch: 20th Century Art & Design at Treadway
by Kate Nixon
A signed Dragonfly lamp from Tiffany Studios could bring in its high estimate of $80,000 or more and a Charles Rohlfs chair with its original finish could bring in its high estimate of $35,000 in Treadway’s 20th Century Art + Design auction this Sunday.
Starting at noon on the 24th, the first of the two part auction (one part dedicated to Art + Design and the other to African American fine art) features furniture, american ceramics and glass arts. A Southern collection features an Oriental Poppy and a Dragonfly table lamp, both by the iconic Tiffany Studios. The sale will also feature examples of American ceramics in excellent condition, particularly a Pewabic vase with a metallic glaze, and examples by William J. Walley. Rookwood, Newcomb, Marblehead, Van Briggle, and Grueby. A collection from Cleveland, Ohio is also featured with a number of bronzes and works of fine art featuring cowboys and American Indians and an L. & J.G. Stickley mantel clock and the aforementioned Charles Rohlfs chair.
Interested buyers can bid in person at Treadway Gallery or may bid via phone, absentee, or online. Please complete and submit an absentee or telephone bid form as included in the catalog, on Treadway’s website, or at the auction house.
