Two annual traditions in East Aurora return to show off the fine art and craft of Roycroft Artisans this weekend.
The Roycroft Summer Festival returns to The Classic Rink in East Aurora June 24th and 25th. The festival is comprised of the Roycroft shows, music and food trucks. Nearly 50 Roycroft Artisans and Juried Artisans at The Classic Rink meet in historic East Aurora for a weekend of Roycroft excellence in craftsmanship and fine art. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, featuring a variety of fine art made by Roycroft artisans. Admission to the festival is $5 for adults.
The festival takes place under the open air roof of the Classic Rink, ensuring a quality experience regardless of the weather conditions. One new addition to the festival is the “Emerging Artists” program, in which four new up and coming local artists are selected for the show. According to the Roycrofters At Large Association’s website, the emerging artists are selected by “special jury who we consider to be rising local artists who exhibit a quality of work in keeping with the Roycroft Standards in their chosen mediums that are offered fostering opportunities with possible paths to juried status.” The program provides individual assistance, support, feedback and critique from established Roycroft Artisans and fast tracked opportunities for mentorship. These new artists specialize in leather, pottery, sculpture, oil painting and textile work,
The festival will have food trucks from Just Pizza, Red’s Hot Dogs and Charlie’s Sugar Waffles.
The Roycroft Summer Festival was originally featured on the grounds of the Historic Roycroft Campus. However, in 2010 the campus grounds were undergoing major renovations and The Roycroft Summer show was moved a few blocks to the Parkdale Elementary School.

The Roycroft Campus Art & Antique Show

The Roycroft Campus’s largest show of the year is the summer Art and Antique Show held on the grounds of the historic Roycroft Campus. Happening the same weekend as the East Aurora Art Society and the Roycrofters-at-Large Association Shows, this annual show features over 70 artists, antique vendors and local cultural groups. Old and new treasures will be available to purchase throughout the campus grounds. The public is also welcome to explore the historic campus while enjoying live music and visits with animals.
While at the Copper Shop on the Roycroft Campus, look out for signups for the Roycroft Raffle with a grand prize of $10,000 and additional summer classes coming up:
- June 28th or July 1st – Wire Mary Necklace Class
- July 15th – Gold Leaf Initial Letter Illumination Class
- July 20th or July 22nd – The Life of Miriam Elberta Hubbard Lecture
- July 28th & August 5th – Intro to Letterpress Printing Class
