Los Angeles Pottery Show Opens Saturday

The 2017 Los Angeles Pottery Show will take place at the Pasadena Convention Center from May 20-21. The upcoming show features over 90 exhibitors from across the country presenting ceramics from yesterday, today and tomorrow. It will also include appraisals, special exhibits and book signings. Hours are 10:00am until 6:00pm on Saturday and 10:00am until 4:00pm on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Pottery Show began when producers Ken Stalcup and Dennis Warden solidified their passion for art pottery into an annual show to promote collecting art pottery ranging from contemporary to vintage to antiques in 1999.

After the 2016 Los Angeles Pottery Show, Ken Stalcup and Dennis Warden made the difficult decision to retire from running LAPS, and announced that LAPS 2016 was the last show.  After hearing the sad news, current owner Kyle M. Shiroma made the big decision to revive the show and build on the solid foundation laid by Ken and Dennis, and continue their legacy into the next generation of art pottery enthusiasts.

Current producer Kyle M. Shiroma has over 20 years’ experience in the retail field, from high end merchandising to pharmacy services and more recently in the fine jewelry field, as a diamond grader for the Gemological Institute of America and fine jewelry retailing.

“Our vision,” he explained, “is to promote contemporary ceramic artists, education on vintage & antique art pottery and connect artists and vendors to collectors and fans alike. Our philosophy is to advance the passion, interest and enjoyment of art pottery.”

The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E. Green Street in Pasadena, CA.
