Exhibit: Arts and Crafts Pottery of Marblehead

Now showing through January 7th, 2024 at the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton Ohio

The iconic ceramic works from Marblehead, Massachusetts has made its way to the Buckeye state!

The Dayton Art Institute of Dayton, OH plays host to this special exhibition that opened at the beginning of the month and is open to the public through January 7th, 2024. Marblehead was a pottery firm open from 1904-1936 with style and form aligning with the American Arts and Crafts era. The well known art pottery firm were known for the creation of matte glazes in earthly colors of blue, gray, green, brown, salmon and yellow with stylized trees, vines and flowers, as well as sailing ships, which Marblehead used as the company’s icon. The colors and designs emphasize the universal appeal of harmony of line, shape and color.

Given the state’s history of art pottery origins, art pottery collectors in Ohio can rejoice in seeing an exceptional collection of more than 70 pieces of Marlehead Pottery.
