Gustav Stickley House
Although it appears, from the exterior, to be a typical Queen Anne style house with Colonial Revival detailing, Gustav Stickley’s 1900 home in Syracuse provided him with the opportunity to create his earliest fully realized Craftsman style residential interior. After a terrible Christmas Eve fire in 1901, Stickley created a masterful Arts & Crafts interior on the First and Second Floors which still exists today. The house is currently owned by the University Neighborhood Preservation Association and has recently completed Phase One exterior restoration. Fundraising for a comprehensive interior restoration is underway. Although the house is typically not open to the public, if you plan to be in Syracuse please contact the Gustav Stickley House Foundation (at [email protected]) and they may be able to coordinate a visit to the house.
