Craftsman Building

From 1913 until 1916, Gustav Stickley consolidated the editorial offices for “The Craftsman” magazine, Craftsman Workshop, and other businesses in one location, a twelve story skyscraper in Manhattan. Stickley lost his lease on the building when he declared bankruptcy in 1916, but the building still remains and the exterior appears much as it did during Gustav Stickley’s tenure there. Today the ground floor is the home of a bar and restaurant called Butterfield 8, where you can have a drink or dinner in what had once been Gustav Stickley’s retail showroom.
