An Auction Just In Time for the Holidays
Treadway Toomey Auctions is pleased to present their December 3rd auction of 20th Century Art & Design, with a selection of over 700 prominent fine and decorative artworks including furniture, paintings, pottery, sculpture and lighting. The sale and preview will be held at John Toomey Gallery located at 818 North Boulevard, Oak Park, Illinois.
Kicking off this auction is a wonderful selection of art pottery and framed tiles from makers such as Grueby, Marblehead, Rookwood, Newcomb and Teco among others. Of particular note is Lot #45, a Teco designer vase by Harald Hals featuring a tapered form with looped handles at the base estimated at $15,000 – $25,000 (top photo).

Lot #17 Charles Rohlfs (1853-1936), desk and chair, Buffalo, NY, 1902, oak, copper, leather, chair and desk with carved signature, dated. Desk with original green interior estimated at $20,000 – $30,000.
Lot #27 Gustav Stickley, sideboard, Eastwood, NY, circa 1906, oak, iron, signed with paper label and red decal, estimated at $30,000 – $50,000 (bottom photo).
Lot #30 Charles Frederick Eaton (1842-1930) and Robert Wilson Hyde (1875-1930) for Ceylon Court, guest book, Lake Geneva, WI, 1903, natural suede, hammered copper, abalone, vellum, ink, paint, paper, sixty-three signatures, includes full page of cartoons by John T. McCutcheon (1870-1949), estimated at $7,000 – $9,000.
Lot #36 Gustav Stickley, tall case clock, #3, Eastwood, NY, circa 1904, oak, copper, brass, unsigned, estimated at $10,000 – $15,000.
Lot #44 Jessie Preston (1873- after 1942), candlesticks, #8, pair, Chicago, IL, brass, impressed mark, foundry mark, numbered. A pair of candlesticks in this form is rarely found. Estimated at $3,000 – $4,000.
Lot #82 Gustave Baumann, (American/German, 1881-1971), Morning in Mexico, 1917, color woodcut, signed, titled and numbered in pencil, edition of 125, estimated at $6,000 – $8,000.
Lot #96 Gustav Stickley, Celandine tea table, #27, Eastwood, NY, circa 1900, oak, remnant of paper label, estimated at $8,000 – $10,000.
Lot #102 Harriet Joor (1875-1965) for Newcomb College, Daffodil vase, New Orleans, LA, high glazed ceramic, marked and signed, estimated at $9,000 – $12,000.
Lot #150 Heintz Art Metal Shop, Woodbine mushroom table lamp, Buffalo, New York, bronze with applied silver overlay, foil label on base, estimated at $9,000 – $12,000.
Lot #335 Tiffany Studios, Spider table lamp: shade, #1424 on an Inverted Mushroom base, #337, New York, NY, Dore bronze, Favrile glass, shade and base with impressed marks, numbered, estimated at $20,000 – $30,000.
Lot #351 Tiffany Studios, Dragonfly table lamp: shade, #1495 on an Indian base, #528, New York, NY, leaded glass, bronze, shade and base with impressed marks, numbered, estimated at $55,000 – $75,000 (middle photo).
